Trinity,
Charlottesville and St. Paul's, Ivy
On July 17, 2002, Trinity Episcopal Church and
St. Paul
's Ivy Episcopal Church were notified of a Mustard Seed Grant for the
construction of a second living unit in the Gertrude Mitchell House.
With God's help, this Sunday, April 24, at 4:30 p.m., the two congregations
will join to celebrate and re-dedicate the Mitchell House and its new basement
apartment. It has been a long and arduous work of faith and community in
Christ. As I write this, busy hands are completing the necessary
finishes to make this once uninhabitable space into a very attractive home,
and will be working through the weekend! Would you please share this
good news with all at Mayo House who knew of and participated in the grant
allocation process? I would joyously share with them if I knew who they
were. Of course, there are the Bishops, Sven and Evelyn, but beyond
that, I do not know. I apologize for the short notice, but we planned
this literally on the heels of the building inspectors! We are just
grateful to God that it is near completion and ready for its much needed
occupancy by residents of our local domestic abuse shelter. We will take
photos and submit a story for the newsletter. Anyone who is interested
is more than welcome to join our celebration this Sunday. The house is
located across the driveway from Trinity at
1036 Preston Avenue
,
Charlottesville
. Thank you and Thanks Be to God!
